A more gender equal Madeira

The Swedish Institute's photo exhibition "Gender equal world - a tribute to those fighting for women's rights" will tour Madeira.
Gender equal world in Funchal

The portrait photographer Anette Brolenius pays tribute to men and women around the world defending human rights and fighting for gender equality. The exhibition was on show in Funchal – the capital of the autonomious region of Madeira – during Women’s Week, with both the Maire of Funchal and the Embassador of Sweden Helena Pilsas attending the opening ceremony.

From the Roundtable discussion that followed emerged concrete exemples for a more gender equal city, that will be followed up later on. Furthermore, local teens were invited to a WikiGap event in order to close the gender gap on Wikipedia, writing specifically on the 15 activists showcased in the exhibition.

The exhibition will then tour Madeira and be on show in Lissabon this autumn.
