Frequently Asked Questions
  • I’m from a country that’s not listed on your website - can I still apply?

No, unfortunately that’s not possible. We can only accept candidates who are citizens of one of our programme countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine (Palestinian ID holders, including Jerusalem ID), Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and Sweden. As mentioned on our website we are not able to make any exceptions to the eligibility requirements, or temporarily consider a new country. At this point we do not have any plans to add any new countries.

  • I am 40 years old - can I still apply?

No, unfortunately not. You need to be at least 20 and no older than 36. We cannot make exceptions to this criteria.

  • Where do I send my application?

You need to submit it through our online application portal, http://applications.si.se. We do not accept applications sent to us via email. A complete application consists of the application form and a CV, both of which should be uploaded to our online applications portal.

  • I get an error message when entering my birth date.

If you’re born between January and September, you need to add a zero in front of the number of the month. The same goes for the day, if it’s lower than ten. If your birthday is 5 January 1990, you would then have to write 1990-01-05.

  • I have uploaded my CV and application form but I’m unable to proceed to the next step and submit my application.

Please make sure that you’ve clicked “Add” next to each individual file before clicking “Submit”. Only then will you be able to proceed to the next step.

  • I submitted my application but I didn’t get a confirmation email.

If the status of your application on the portal is “submitted” and you have received a registration number, everything is alright regardless of whether you’ve received a confirmation email or not. The problem usually occurs if you’re using Gmail or if many people are submitting an application at the same time. Please also check your spam folder.

  • I can’t login to the portal, it says my username is used.

Make sure you have created a “New User”. If you have applied before, you need to have the correct password for your username. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking on one of the buttons that says “Forgotten password”.

  • Do you give priority to any specific kind of social initiative?

No, we don’t give priority to any specific kind of initiative – it all depends on the quality and potential of business and the profile of the candidate. We accept candidates with all sorts of different initiatives. All applications are assessed according to the following criteria:

    • The potential of your social business initiative.
    • Your drive, motivation and commitment, as well as your answers to the questions of the She Entrepreneurs application form.
    • An assessment of your CV.

Please note that it is important that you have started working on your initiative in some way.

  • I only have an idea about a social business initiative, can I still apply?

Yes, you can apply. Please bear in mind that the competition is very high, and that one of the most important criteria is the assessment of your business initiative.

  • Is the programme fully funded?

Yes, the programme is fully funded by the Swedish Institute. All expenses related to accommodation, meals and travel expenses are covered.

Toolbox for the social business

SI has produced a handbook on social entrepreneurship specifically for participants of She Entrepreneurs. Toolbox for the social business  is available for free online.
Toolbox for the social business is a practical introduction to business modelling with the key building blocks to commercialise a business idea. It presents traditional concepts of entrepreneurship and explains how these can be adapted and exploited by organisations that aim to deliver social or ecological value creation. This book is based on theories and practices that have proven to be effective and impactful. Each chapter contains critical questions to consider individually or in a group. Using the toolbox will help readers create or grow an impactful business.
