The Goldfinger project focuses on transnational police operations in the Baltic Sea region. The project wants to enhance the ability to tackle crosss-border crimes.
Organized crime is a threat to citizens, businesses, state institutions as well as the economy in general. Furthermore, criminal organizations easily operate across the borders. In order to prevent and combat serious cross-border crimes, the national law enforcement agencies of the Baltic Sea region must cooperate. There are currently two platforms for law enforcement cooperation in the region. The Goldfinger project aims to strengthen the opportunities for more cooperation, through better access to external funding from the EU.
The objective of the project is to establish a platform that provides an overview of funding opportunities offered by EU funds. Furthermore, the platform will contribute to more collaborations across the borders on ongoing and future call proposals within the EU/Europol. Hence, the project will connect operational staff in law enforcement agencies with relevant funding sources. The activities will take place in Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Poland and Germany.
