SESUMOPLIN; Seeds for sustainable mobility planning and infrastructure

SESUMOPLIN is about CO2 emissions from road and urban transportation in the Baltic Sea region.

SESUMOPLIN notes that transportation is responsible for nearly 30 per cent of the EU’s CO2 emissions. Around 72 per cent come from road transportation. The EU has set a goal to reduce these emissions by 60 per cent by 2050, and several initiatives have been introduced to tackle the problem. Nevertheless, SESUMOPLIN says that they are still lacking a comprehensive case that embraces positive results as well as negative experiences and lessons learned from previous initiatives in the Baltic Sea region.

The purpose of the project is to conduct a study on results, experiences and setbacks in mobility infrastructure and urban planning in three regions. The study will analyze, assess and compare the partner’s experiences, and identify bottlenecks. SESUMOPLIN argues that it is particularly important to focus on the emerging digital solutions. The activities include desk-based analysis, and interviews with stakeholders such as policymakers, end users, businesses and organizations. The project will also prepare a project application for further funding.
