The project aims to develop clinical and pedagogical competencies of rehabilitation professionals so that they have the necessary skills to provide specialist services and contribute to educating future professionals.
Since the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian government has reported an increase of 300,000 individuals with disabilities, including approximately 20 000 people with limb amputations. As a result, Ukraine is facing a severe shortage of qualified rehabilitation professionals who can manage the long-term care of these individuals and facilitate their return to society.
The project will contribute to the capacity of Ukraine to offer rehabilitation for people with disabilities by developing the clinical competencies of existing professionals and providing them with the pedagogical skills to become educators and clinical supervisors of student prosthetist/orthotists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Activities include formal and informal training methods supported by Swedish rehabilitation specialists, as well as clinical educators and experts in pedagogical methods.
