During the spring of 2018 the Swedish Institute will offer SI alumni support to host events on gender equality. A selected number of alumni will be given a grant of up to SEK 12 000 to organise a seminar, workshop, mentoring programme, inspiration day or similar in their community. All alumni that are selected for their event idea will be offered a travel grant to join the conference ”Shaping new realities – the Stockholm Forum on Gender equality” in Sweden on 15-17 April.
All applicants should be working with or involved in gender equality development. This means that to be able to apply you have to have some prior knowledge and/or experience within this area. We do not require education within gender studies but rather a platform for working with these questions in your local context. This opportunity is only open for SI alumni; former SI scholarship holders and participants in SI leadership programmes (full definition here).
You apply with an idea of an event that you will execute during 2018 in your local context. All successful applicants will be given financial support of up to SEK 12 000 to carry out the project. We encourage collaborations with local institutions and NGOs but it is important that you are the main organiser. The desired impact of your project should be increased awareness on the importance of gender balance in all sectors in society. Hopefully you will be inspired by the content of the conference and make valuable contacts that you will be able to incorporate in your own project. After the event you will be required to send in a report consisting of a list of participants, three pictures, the final programme, final budget including receipts and a personal reflection via an online link.
All successful applicants will get the opportunity to attend the Stockholm Forum on Gender Equality (travel grant includes travel and accommodation). The purpose of the forum is to strengthen dialogue between govern¬ments, civil society, private sector, activists and academia worldwide, with the shared ambition to promote a gender equal world. The Forum will facilitate dialogue, exchange and further development of best practices for a wide range of key actors in order to intensify efforts to achieve global gender equality. Ultimately, it’s about sharing tools for shaping new realities for a better, safer and more sustainable world. The Forum is co-hosted by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Institute and will attract high level profiles, stakeholders and experts from all over the world.
