Change-driven sustainability leaders visit Stockholm

This October, business leaders from 22 countries gathered in Sweden to learn more about Sweden’s sustainability efforts and to network with Swedish companies and organisations. The visit to Stockholm is the onsite part of the SI Global Executive Programme, a leadership programme aimed at supporting leaders committed to reshaping the future of business and addressing the sustainability challenge.

The programme nurtures forward-thinking business executives seeking to shape a future that is not only economically resilient, but socially and ecologically sustainable. This year’s group consists of 97 participants from various sectors and branches in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

The core of the program takes place online. Through workshops, lectures and modules, the participants gain methods, tools and perspectives to implement sustainability as a core strategy in their business. They also work on their own strategic business project throughout the programme, coached by senior executives and experts in sustainability and the green transition.

Towards the end of the programme, participants meet in Sweden for a week dedicated to networking, exploring leadership skills, and gaining insights about the Swedish eco-system in sustainability.

Md Jakaria Jalal, Head of Strategy at Bashundhara Group in Bangladesh, specialised in energy, shares his thoughts on the week in Stockholm.

‘I’m taking home a renewed sense of purpose regarding sustainability in leadership. The practical exemples and strategies discussed, have equipped me with actionable ideas to implement in my ongoing work. To focus on innovation and collaboration has been truly inspiring and aligns with my own professional goals.‘

Together with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and Team Sweden, SI organised a well-attended breakfast event. Over 70 representatives from Swedish companies and organisations at the forefront of sustainability and green transition, met the participants to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Md Jakaria Jalal summarises the experience at whole:

‘Meeting and collaborating with executives from around the world have broadened my perspective. The diversity of ideas and experiences shared has been invaluable, fostering a sense of global unity in addressing common challenges.‘
