This is an important step in highlighting and strengthening the Swedish civil society’s engagement for Ukraine. The award was presented by Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousak, in Stockholm on 19 September 2025.’
The Swedish Institute was commissioned by the government to announce and administer the application process. The nominations were presented to a jury and the final decision was made by the government.
This year’s recipients are:
Organisation: HUG (Help Ukraine Gothenburg)
Motivation: For its extensive and multifaceted work combining emergency humanitarian aid with long-term recovery support in Ukraine. Since 2022, the organisation has delivered humanitarian aid worth over SEK 140 million, characterised by determination and compassion. By providing more than 100 rescue vehicles, medical equipment to 26 hospitals, and hygiene products to children’s hospitals, HUG has helped strengthen Ukraine’s healthcare system under extreme pressure. At the same time, the organisation has developed trauma-informed summer camps for children and a pilot rehabilitation programme for war veterans. These efforts demonstrate a holistic approach to both physical and mental recovery.
Individual: Tilde Addenbrooke
Motivation: For her exceptional and courageous efforts in Ukraine, where she coordinates humanitarian aid on the ground in particularly war-affected areas. She demonstrates creativity, determination, and deep commitment to the people of Ukraine. Through her presence in war-torn Ukraine since 2022, she has developed a unique understanding of local needs and built effective structures and solutions under extremely challenging conditions.
The award consists of SEK 200,000 for the individual and SEK 1.8 million for the organisation, to be used for continuing their work.
