New call for applications within the SI Ukraine Cooperation Programme now open

The Swedish Institute (SI) is now launching the 2026 call for applications within the SI Ukraine Cooperation Programme. The programme enables Swedish organisations, in cooperation with Ukrainian partners, to implement projects that contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction, reform efforts and EU integration. This year’s call focuses on initiatives within innovation ecosystems, transparency and anti-corruption, and gender equality. Applications may be submitted up to and including 2 March 2026.

The SI Ukraine Cooperation Programme strengthens cooperation between Sweden and Ukraine by fostering long-term partnerships. Projects are expected to contribute to increased capacity among Ukrainian organisations, as well as enhanced skills and new opportunities for key Ukrainian stakeholders through, for example, expanded professional networks and exchanges of experience.

Focus for 2026: Projects promoting innovation, transparency and gender equality in Ukraine

The programme forms part of Sweden’s reconstruction and reform cooperation with Ukraine and focuses on civilian initiatives. Projects applying for funding must have a clear link to one of the following priority areas of the call:

  • Innovation ecosystems
  • Transparency, accountability and anti-corruption
  • Gender equality

Two types of grants

Project duration may range from 6 to 24 months, depending on the type of grant. Two forms of funding are available under this call:

  • Project preparation
Smaller grants to initiate cooperation and establish a shared direction in addressing a challenge or opportunity in Ukraine. Project preparation may, for example, involve establishing partnerships or conducting limited feasibility studies and needs assessments.
  • Cooperation projects
Larger grants for more extensive initiatives focusing on activating existing partnerships and strengthening the capacity of actors in Ukraine who can drive change and contribute to reconstruction and reforms linked to EU integration.

Who can apply?

The lead applicant organisation must be a legal entity registered in Sweden. Projects must be implemented in cooperation with at least one organisation in Ukraine. Partners from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania or Poland may also participate if they add clear value to the project.

Examples of eligible organisations include public authorities, municipalities and regions, universities and higher education institutions, civil society organisations, and other relevant actors.

Information meetings in January

During the application period, SI will organise digital information meetings presenting the programme and the application process. Further information and registration links are available on the programme’s website here: SI Ukraine Cooperation Programme – Svenska institutet
