In the speech of the Director General of the Swedish Institute, Madeleine Sjöstedt, she congratulated the graduates on their achievements and reminded them of the important mission they have ahead and the long-lasting relationship they have created with Sweden:
“I hope you will use what you have learned in Sweden. Use your knowledge, use the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships in order to make the world a better, more sustainable and peaceful place. /…/ I know that the great accomplishments you’ve achieved here in Sweden is not the end of your road, it is just the starting point for the next leap in your life and your way forward. Outside of these enormous walls there is a world waiting for you and I am grateful to have been able to greet you, to thank you and I hope that we meet once again.”

Tite Musabyimana from Rwanda studied the master’s programme Sustainable Structural Engineering at Linneaus University. He was one of the graduated who attended the diploma ceremony. When reflecting about his study experience, he remembers what kept him motivated and willing to find solutions to move his country forward:
– Sustainable structural engineering was a difficult programme and I had to work hard. Thinking about engineering but in terms of sustainability and which solution we can find to the climate change that the world is facing was very interesting and it made me stay motivated. I now feel like I have the solutions, I would say that was my motivation. Keep fighting and find the solutions.
Neil Baldelomar, SI Scholarship holder from (Taiwan), studied Data Analytics and Business Economics at Lunds University, when asked how he feels about graduating he said:
– I look back and I see how much I have learned, and I feel confident now in my applications to data science and as an analyst. The professors have been very encouraging and everyone in the programme is very good at what they do so it has been pushing me further. I am really happy with the progress I have made in this academic year. I am excited about the future.
