The LASUWAMA project focuses on education in the field of waste management and landscape sustainability. It wants to strengthen the network between universities across the borders in the Baltic Sea region and countries of the EU Eastern Partnership.
Pollution travels across national borders and because of that, common policies and approaches for environmental services are necessary. The project stresses that such common approaches are lacking between the countries in the Baltic Sea region and the EU Eastern Partnership countries, and that the perception of the needs for environmental services vary from country to country. The project will set up a consortium of universities from the participating countries. The aim is to strengthen the ability of the universities to deliver education and research on waste management and landscape sustainability. The project puts emphasis on the young generation of scientists, Master- and PhD-students, arguing that they are likely to get important positions in society in the future.
The activities will contribute to the ability of the universities to deliver a comprehensive educational background and practical skills that are relevant for Master- and PhD-students.
