Pippi Longstocking was first published just before Christmas in 1945. Astrid Lindgren’s success character came four years before, in 1941, when her daughter Karin was at home, sick and bored and wanted Astrid to continue telling stories.

2020 and 75 years later, Pippi Longstocking has been translated into many different languages and has spread joy, fascination, provoked and inspired both children and adults around the world.
Pippi’s outspoken character engages far outside the children’s literature and, for example, occurs frequently in discussions about gender equality and freedom and rights of young girls.
The material includes exhibition, quotes by Pippi, quizzes that can be used for discussion and topic suggestions for seminars, for example, seminars on gender equality or girls that are on the move -“Pippi of Today”.
Included is also a spatial environment that focuses on stimulating activities. There are several suggestions on joint activities for children and adults.
