The supply of sign language material is generally very limited in the third-party countries – Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, according to the Spread 360 project. It stresses that deaf students need educational material in their own language. Therefore, the only solution for many teachers of deaf students is to produce their own material.
This project will contribute to the already existing dictionary by adding 360-degrees photos of educational trainings. The purpose of these photos is to make it easier for the students to understand the words, as the texts and the videos in the dictionary are not always enough. The photos will be similar to those in street views of online maps, where you can rotate the picture and zoom in and out. Spread 360 stresses that this tool will offer a better understanding of the vocational words. Also, it will make it easier for the students to participate in internships and exchange programs across the borders.
The project will produce 30 vocational 360-degrees photos and translate 2,500 words from English to Russian, Ukrainian and Belarussian. The partner countries represent large populations across large geographical areas, their participation will be beneficial for the EU project to disseminate the final results.
