TBBR is a project about cycling tourism in the Baltic Sea region which will focus on a cross-border bicycling touring route.
TBBT notes that the interest in cycling tourism has grown both globally and regionally over the last few years. It has become a field that generates billions of euros in incomes and contributes to the local economies. The project suggests that while cycling tourists are constantly looking for new and exotic experiences, the existing cycling routes in the Baltic Sea region already link the region’s most attractive rural destinations. Therefore, TBBT promotes the idea of a long-distance cycling route in the Baltic Sea region. The route will cover several countries and cultures, and run across attractive highlights in each region. TBBT argues that the route will boost rural communities and economies, and also allow tourists to enjoy a sustainable and healthy form of travel.
One goal of the project is to determine the viability of such a route. Another is to identify and engage stakeholders with an interest in a regional cycling route. The activities include meetings and presentations which will mainly take place online. The partners will present a route proposal and a local stakeholder mapping.
