Local Role Models: Self-Empowering Women in Egypt and Morocco through Workshops and Performances

With our partners in Egypt, Morocco and Syria, we research historical and contemporary role models in the communities where they operate. The role models are chosen so that women can use their ideas, narratives and life stories to abandon negative thinking patterns and engage in positive action. The role models are the focus of a workshop where artists develop new performances that are shown publicly. We use art to inspire hope, enable, and promote resistance to oppression against women.
