The project is a response to increased attacks against journalists, the shrinking civic space and the weakening of women’s influence in policy and decision-making in Zimbabwe. One main aim is to pre-empt attacks against journalists by working with local police authorities and policymakers to find common ground on how journalists can conduct their work without being unnecessarily hindered. The second main aim is to strengthen the knowledge, skills and confidence of women in decision-making positions in local governance and Parliament. This will reinforce women councillors’ capacity as they make policies at national and provincial level and support engendered and inclusive development plans and programs.
An integrated approach – protect the right of freedom of expression and women’s participation
