#RightByHer: upholding rights for all

The project aims to tackle regressive trends in women’s rights and gender equality
exacerbated by religious rhetoric in East Africa. Through strategic communication
campaigns, we aim to empower faith-based change agents who champion women’s
rights. By leveraging their influence within religious communities, we seek to
counter disinformation and hate speech with positive narratives grounded in
religious teachings. Our approach involves training 30 change-agents from diverse
religious backgrounds, co-creating campaigns based on religious arguments, and
utilizing social media and other platforms. Change-agents drive the project agenda,
implementing tailored activities and fostering peer engagement. The initiative
fosters collaboration, offering recognition for impactful actions and facilitating
knowledge-sharing. Ultimately, our efforts aspire to create solidarity networks,
amplify positive voices, and inspire activism for women’s rights in patriarchal
contexts in East Africa.
