Sweden Talks: Natural capital we depend on – a guided tour in nature

Join the first Sweden Talks outdoors! Biologist Per Bengtson will take us out into the sprouting spring in Sweden, to explore some of the functions we all depend on. Biodiversity is not only the colourful mosaic of meadow flowers and butterflies, but also a base for our existence. Per will give examples that bridge the natural environment to our modern world and businesses.

In this outdoor Sweden Talk we will explore:

  • Biodiversity of the forest and the key role of the fungi’s wood wide web.
  • The importance of pollinators, highly topical in May with pollination of apple blossoms
  • The water cycle, how wetlands purify water, delay water flows and build carbon stores
  • Nature’s own Carbon Capture and Storage solution, the trees.
  • How the UN framework for biodiversity is a helpful tool that demand quick action until 2030.
Per Bengtson is a biologist and communication strategist, working at the Swedish Centre for Nature Interpretation at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. His work aims to develop methods for raising awareness about us being a part of the natural world and finding ways to strengthen that relation. Per has trained hundreds of international business leaders, including at the Nasdaq stock exchange. Photo: Private
