This seed project addresses the ethnic segregation within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s education system by introducing a peace education model based on nonviolent conflict resolution.Â
Ethnic divisions remain a major obstacle to democratic development, particularly in schools where students are taught in parallel, divided systems. Existing peace initiatives lack integration into the curriculum, and students have limited opportunities to develop democratic values and interethnic understanding.
The project will develop and pilot a new peace education model in selected high schools, combining SweFOR’s experience in nonviolent activism with NDC Mostar’s expertise in interethnic education. Teachers and school staff will receive training, and local authorities will be engaged from the outset to ensure long-term institutional support and prepare for future national scaling.
