The project aims to strengthen cross-sector alliances between women’s rights activists and media professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve responses to gender-based violence (GBV).
Despite growing advocacy efforts, GBV remains underreported and misunderstood, with harmful media portrayals reinforcing stereotypes and limiting public awareness. Activists and journalists face structural and professional barriers that hinder collaboration and weaken their capacity to influence societal norms and hold authorities accountable.
The project builds joint capacity through knowledge-building sessions, collaborative production of multimedia feature stories, and monitoring of media coverage. These interventions promote gender-sensitive reporting and equip both sectors with tools to influence public discourse and policy responses. A regional exchange and a best-practice visit to Sweden will foster learning and alliance-building. By amplifying victim-centred narratives and improving journalistic standards, the project seeks to catalyse broader public engagement and institutional accountability.
