Swedish and East African cartoons on show in Arusha, Tanzania

The digital exhibition Facing the Climate continues its global tour with contributions from East African and Swedish cartoonists - climate images will be showcased at high level meeting in Arusha from six East African member countries.

The Swedish Embassy in Dar es Salaam and the East African Community (EAC) will display the exhibition Facing the Climate at the EAC Headquarters from Monday, February 5. The exhibition will coincide with the Sectoral Council on Environment and Natural Resources which will be attended by the Ministry of Environment from all six member countries.

The exhibition has been shown in over 30 countries and attracted more than 450,000 visitors since the initiative started in 2009. The exhibition is constantly growing as new countries participate. Program activities are arranged in conjunction with the exhibition, often linked to Agenda 2030 activities.
The exhibition presents East African images from leading cartoonists in Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia accompanied by the Swedish cartoonists.

The exhibition, curated by Mr. Victor Ndula from Kenya together with Swedish cartoonist Magnus Bard, is touring by the Swedish Foreign Missions and local partners. Locally curated exhibitions are shown also in Uganda and Zimbabwe. Water scarcity, deforestation and short-term environmental policy are topics that involve a number of cartoonists in East Africa says Magnus Bard, co-curator of the East African version.

The exhibition is open to the public with an ID card.
