Bergman-bar #2: The Theatre and Bergman

During three evenings, Swedish and French artists and specialists working in different disciplines will discuss the relationship between their creative work and Ingmar Bergman and also the way he relates more broadly to their chosen field. On 30 November, we turn the spotlight on the stage!

Ingmar Bergman’s films are famous the world over. His theatre work is, however, less well known outside Sweden. And yet the theatre was his first means of expression, and several of his productions were presented in other countries, including France. Indeed several of his screenplays have recently been adapted for the stage.

  • Stefan Larsson, actor and theatre director. He has directed several plays adapted from Ingmar Bergman’s films at the National Thetare in Stockholm, including Fanny and Alexander and Scenes from a Marriage.
  • Julie Deliquet, French theatre director and co-founder of the Vitro collective. She is currently preparing a production of Fanny and Alexander, the first work by Ingmar Bergman to enter the repertoire of the Comédie Française, which will open in February 2019.

In French and Swedish with consecutive translation in French.
