Sweden Alumni Network India – Kerala Chapter plan to conduct the Plastic Free Week programme in three phases. The focus will be on ‘REFUSE, REDUCE, RE-USE AND RECYCLE’.
- Kick-Off Event on 16th September 2023 at St. Xavier’s College, Kozhikode.
A seminar highlighting the adverse effects of plastic use and a plogging event will be conducted at the college. - Plastic Free Activities in Schools 16-23 September.
In the second phase which will last for a week, Plastic Free activities will be undertaken in 20 selected schools in Meenangadi Village Panchayath (Local Self Government), Wayanad District, Kerala. Members of the Social Service Groups in these schools will be the participants. The activities done will be documented in each school. Meanwhile, our Alumni will try to avoid the use of plastic completely for a week. They will also post photos of their activities in the WhatsApp group of the Chapter. - A concluding function will be conducted on 23 September 2023 at the Panchyath Community Hall, Meenangadi.
Teams comprising three students from each school will present a summary of their work before the public. Based on the presentations, the best two schools will be selected and trophies will be given to them. Prizes will be given to two Alumni who have used the best methods to avoid plastic. A quiz programme to spread awareness of the dangers of plastic use also will be conducted.
