THIS IS A 2-DAY CONFERENCE:
Many countries in Asia and Asia Pacific region are vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters like storm surge, typhoons, flooding, and others. The Philippines ranked as one of the most vulnerable in Southeast Asia. Mountains of wastes are left after the disaster and most LGUs have little or no pre-disaster preparedness in handling these wastes that often cause delays in the post disaster response. If not managed well, the wastes generated after a natural disaster can cause damage to the health and lives of people in the communities, especially in the coastal areas.
Given this scenario, the Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines, Inc. (SWAPP), Sweden Alumni Network Philippines (SANPH) and the City Government of Iloilo City in collaboration with our various partners will hold the Solid Waste Management of the Philippines Conference 2022 (SWAPPCon 2022), on 17 – 18 November 2022 in Zuri Hotel, Maduriao, Iloilo City. The conference will be conducted using a hybrid format of online via zoom and face-to-face. We have chosen “DISASTER WASTE MANAGEMENT” as theme of SWAPPCon 2022.
To expound and share latest information on technological breakthroughs on the subject, we are inviting speakers and resource persons from government agencies, LGUs, and experts from other countries to share their experiences in coping with the challenges brought about by disaster wastes. It is hoped that this year’s SWAPPCon will enrich you with good and applicable practices and will help you develop strategies/programs to resolve disaster waste management related problems, and possibly, integrate and implement your learnings in your respective areas and communities.
