Lucia – a tradition on export
Anyone studying Swedish at a university abroad can learn a lot about Swedish festivals and traditions. The Lucia celebration is usually the most popular one. As early as November, students begin to practice lucia songs. Singing is also an excellent and fun way to learn Swedish. You practice pronunciation and learn new words and phrases. Many Swedish teachers also bake buns and gingerbread with the students. This year, students are asked to perform on Swedish companies, organizations and embassies abroad.
