“Establishing the Alumni Network presented an exciting opportunity to foster and strengthen the ties with Sweden”

Meet Brikena Meha from Kosovo, data analyst consultant and Chairperson of the Sweden Alumni Network Kosovo - a collaborative platform she was part of starting in 2019. The close collaboration between the alumni network and the Swedish Embassy in Pristina, has played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo.

Brikena Meha holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Uppsala University – specializing in quantitative analysis and empirical research.

– Upon returning to my hometown, I immediately committed to using my enthusiasm for Data Analytics and Digital Transformation to contribute to my country’s development. Subsequently, I have applied these skills and knowledge to create a meaningful impact in both the private and public sectors and have collaborated with international organisations along the way, says Brikena.

Engaging and establishing the Sweden Alumni Network Kosovo

Aiming to bridge the gap between Kosovo and Sweden, Brikena and a dedicated group of Sweden alumni, came together in 2019 to establish the Sweden Alumni Network Kosovo.

– Establishing the Alumni Network presented an exciting opportunity to foster and strengthen the ties with Sweden. Our goal was to build connections between the countries by creating a platform to build robust partnerships and facilitate a vibrant exchange of knowledge and experiences, including professionalism and culture. Our board members are driven by a sense of volunteerism and unwavering enthusiasm, committed to elevate our network by continuously welcoming like-minded individuals to join us, says Brikena.

Close collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina

Over the years, the Sweden Alumni Network Kosovo has developed an enduring partnership with the Swedish Embassy in Pristina. A recent collaboration was when the Embassy extended a request for support in identifying Scandinavian businesses that currently operate in the Kosovo market, as well as potential entrants in the future.

– Rising to the occasion, our board members designed a survey to retrieve this information from our most valuable resource — our network members. What truly astounded us was the positive response we received. We designed an in-depth analysis report for the Embassy in their goal to establish the Nordic Chamber of Commerce. Fundamentally, our network’s collaborative efforts not only reinforced our bond with the Swedish Embassy but also played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce.
