This project is a 2-year music education program for 100 children and youth aged 10-18 in Al-Dheisheh Refugee Camp. The project engages teachers in a music educational journey to act as agents of change in the socioeconomically disadvantaged community through collective music making that does not only enable students with musical skills, but also teaches them moral values and exposes them to new experiences.
The project will serve as a pilot project aiming to create a music education kit of teaching manuals, methods, and music repertoires on local and traditional arabic music based on El Sistema methodology, while at the same preserving and safeguarding the cultural heritage of the region.
