The AppSam project wants to improve the elderly care in the Baltic Sea region through a transnational cooperation on dementia care.
As life expectancy in the Baltic Sea region increases, the number of people who suffer from dementia will also increase. This development will put more pressure on the health care staff, as dementia care is time and resource costly. As all countries in the region will face these challenges, transnational cooperation will help to increase the knowledge and competence on dementia.
A previous project, the CareSam project, brought together organizations from Sweden and Denmark to discuss elderly care. The AppSam project is an extension of the CareSam project. The goal of AppSam is to include two more countries, Poland and Lithuania. Through workshops and meetings, the partners will learn from each other and also identify common needs. Together, they will develop their concepts for dementia care. One purpose is to find ways to use technology as a tool for people with dementia.
