The Baltic Indie Group is a project about the music industry in the Baltic Sea region. It will focus on collaboration between different artists and companies in the region.
The independent music industry is dependent on cooperation to get its repertoire and record releases spread. With no existing networks in the indie world around the Baltic Sea, there are not many companies working across these borders. With the margins of independent releases and small artists most companies in this scene would benefit from a relevant network of peers to enable access to neighboring markets. Companies around the Baltic Sea region need to know how the different markets work and who they should collaborate with to have their artists and releases gain traction.
The project wants to address both the spread of recorded music and the number of live opportunities by connecting labels, agencies, distributors, management, promoters, venues, and festivals. There is a need of seeing the region as one market. The aim of this project is therefore to create a network of likeminded companies to simplify cross-border promotion and distribution of music. The aim is also to create new networks for booking and touring as an independent artist in the region. The activities include creating new networks and partnerships for creative industries within the region. It will also help regional business to share ideas on how to develop and create new partnerships between the involved businesses.
