The BSRCulturalGaming project deals with game-based learning to promote social inclusion and sustainability. Focus will be on young people and their communities.
The project stresses that a common challenge in the Baltic Sea region is that young people are losing interest in traditional forms of politics, while polarisation and populism are increasing. This entails a risk of social exclusion and fragmentation of societies. At the same time, young people are looking for alternative ways to unfold their interest in societal development, for instance their interest in sustainability. This project wants to engage young people in the development of their own communities in the Baltic Sea region. For this purpose, they want to use the gaming platform Block by Block, which integrates Minecraft into public space planning.
The project will undertake a pilot study on cultural gaming as an approach to youth participation in development of society in the Baltic Sea region. Inclusion and sustainability will be emphasised. The pilot study will prepare for a more extensive Baltic Sea regional project. Activities include creation of a gaming virtual reality model and development of a prototype for the pilot study, which will cover both local and transnational aspects. As part of the project, the partners also cooperate with organizations in other countries not mentioned above.
