The project aims to support capacity building in decision-making for spatial planning with a special focus on public engagement and cost-benefit analysis.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has created an urgent need to rebuild the destroyed cities in accordance with the goals of sustainable development and the basic principles of democratic societies. Spatial planning faces significant challenges, including infrastructure destruction, limited resources, and large-scale population displacement.
Other countries’ best practices in decision-making in spatial planning can benefit Ukraine and assist in introducing sustainability goals as well as principles of democratic societies into spatial planning. The activities include online and physical meetings for planning, discussing the progress and project implementation at all project phases, initial contacts and assessment of interests with potential stakeholders, workshops and study visits.
