Cinema al Fouad is the only regional platform for queer cinema in the Arab world. After beginning as a queer film festival in Beirut, the project today has transformed to better address the needs of the community of queer Arab filmmakers and to adapt to the worsening situation in Lebanon and the region. Cinema Queer wants to support Cinema al Fouad in this transition and expansion. Over the next year, Cinema al Fouad will host the second edition of its fund for Arab films on gender, sexuality and identity, its mentorship program for Arab LGBTQ+ filmmakers, and an accompanying online film program to spread these films locally, regionally, and globally.
