The Co-CreaYOUTH project is about decision-making and policies towards youth, especially less heard groups. It will focus on collaboration between various stakeholders.
The reverted demographic pyramid makes youth a decreasing percentage of the populations in the Baltic Sea region. According to Co-CreaYOUTH, this is one reason why younger generations are left with less power to influence public policies. The project also stresses that generally they do not believe in co-creation and that there is a potential risk that these groups, including the least heard, will lose interest in democratic decision-making. Meanwhile, local governments lack knowledge on how to engage them. Co-CreaYOUTH argues that it is necessary to increase knowledge and accountability towards these groups, particularly by including them in co-creation. Against this background, this project wants to support co-creation capabilities of local governments, NGO’s and academic partners in the Baltic Sea region through cross-border collaborations. One aim is to establish long-term relationships to enable mutual learning.
The activities include research circles and dialogues focusing on evidence on how to advance co-creation. The project will also arrange two joint workshops where insights for co-creation with targeted youth will be presented.
