CommonAct is a project focusing on energy efficiency and sustainable development in the Baltic Sea region. In particular, the project wants to produce strategies for communication on these issues.
Energy efficiency has a large potential for climate change mitigation and should be a priority for actions in the Baltic Sea region, CommonAct suggests. The project also stresses that all actors in society must be involved and contribute to this matter. A core challenge is therefore to reach and convince the target groups to become involved and to take actions. CommonAct argues that traditional forms of communication often assume that people are able to adopt and process any information, while in reality there is a constant information overload and as a consequence it is difficult to reach the target groups. CommonAct wants to see more effective and behavioral communication. It should be easier for the target groups to understand what to do and to take actions. The project therefore wants to pilot communication strategies for sustainability and energy efficiency, based on learnings. It will map best practices and produce one communication strategy for each partner country. The activities include a workshop and the creation of a social media group for communication managers. The project will also present a plan for further cooperation across the borders in the Baltic Sea region.
