The aim of the project is to establish an operational network for underutilized crops conservation to meet future challenges of food security.
Climate change as well as conflicts pose significant threats to global food security, affecting both crop production and market stability. Underutilized crops represent valuable genetic resources that are often overlooked despite their potential to enhance resilience and bolster regional food security. These crops, with their inherent adaptability to diverse environments and cultural significance, receive insufficient attention in research, development, and agricultural production.
Through activities such as organising workshops, developing characterization methods, and establishing a network, the project aims to improve conservation practices and promote the utilization of underutilized crops.
