The aim of the project is to create long-term, sustainable networks that compile, build, and share best practices on how to successfully crowdsource data and information on cultural and natural heritage in danger.
The urgency of the project is highlighted by the risks and threats from climate change as well as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has escalated threats to irreplaceable heritage sites. The lack of data and information on these sites hinders targeted efforts and public engagement.
Best practices for digital preservation of heritage in danger through crowdsourcing will be developed by forming strong transnational networks, including volunteers, culture and natural heritage experts, state institutions and civil society representatives. Together they will develop papers to guide future efforts.
