A section called the Women, Peace and Security agenda will be developed on SES platform’s front web page. This section covers news on peace and security, both domestically and internationally from a women’s rights perspective. Certain attention will be given to the Kurdish conflict.
Since the failed coup attempt of 2016, democratic backsliding, censorship of media and the deterioration of women’s rights are intensifying under Turkey’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) government. By institutionalizing the WPS agenda in our news reporting, the Platform can contribute to the empowerment of women’s roles as peacemakers and increase their awareness on their rights through media.
