The Mission BSR project is about EU Missions, which is a policy instrument by the EU Commission to address different societal challenges. This project will set up a network of stakeholders in the Baltic Sea region for cooperation around the EU Missions.
The EU Commission has presented five Missions focusing on climate, oceans, cancer, et cetera. The Mission BSR project notes that these will transform Europe into a greener, healthier, more inclusive and resilient continent. The project also notes, however, that the Missions are complex and require different types of partnerships. Therefore, it wants to establish a network of various stakeholders in the Baltic Sea region to work together around the EU Missions. The network will include at least 12 partners, representing two types of organisations. First, regional authorities that manage each regions’ Smart Specialisation Strategy. Second, organisations that represent the Biosphere network. The project suggests that cooperation and exchange of expertise and experiences will allow the partners to address research and innovations that are necessary for reaching the goals of the EU Missions.
The activities include a stakeholder analysis, webinars, workshops, study visits, and presenting a strategy for the partnership. The strategy will include a model for sustaining the network, and a list of project ideas.
