Menstruation is surrounded by shame, taboo and stigma all over the world. At the same time, resistance is growing in many parts of the world. A movement of young people who want to assert their sexual and reproductive rights, learn more about their health and stand up against injustice. My Period Is Awesome is part of this movement, and now we want to portray it and share it.
The project My Period Is ART(some) will be based in Rwanda and Sweden. We will depict menstruation in different situations where we find cultural similarities through creative expressions, with the aim of breaking stigma and opening for dialogue. Through photographs, we will take part in a cross-border conversations that create increased knowledge and increased sexual and reproductive rights.
