nanoBSR; Network in nanomedicine for education, research and innovation in the Baltic Sea Region

The nanoBSR project is about nanotechnologies and nanomaterials for medical use. The long-term goal is to make the Baltic Sea region more competitive in the field of nanomedicine.

New nanotechnologies and materials offer new opportunities for many purposes, not the least for medical use. For the Baltic Sea region to be able to compete on the global arena, it is necessary to foster contacts between academic institutions, and between academic institutions and innovation driven enterprises. Yet, there is currently no network related to nanomedicine in the Baltic Sea region. The nanoBSR project will establish a network to promote internationally competitive education, research and innovation in the field of nanomedicine. The outcome will be a nanomedicine cluster in the Baltic Sea region, which will attract highly competent participants, and funding from the EU and other sources.

While some other projects focus on the commercialization of nanomedicine related products, this project will be focusing on research for innovative products and applications. The activities include finding additional partners, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises, and identifying themes for research and cooperation. Also, the project will arrange an international nanomedicine conference in Kyiv.
