The aim of the project is to ensure that Ukraine’s cultural heritage is preserved and shared as widely as possible, and that millions of people can access that information in their own languages.
Work on digitisation and knowledge sharing through digital platforms are crucial as Ukraine’s cultural heritage is under attack. Russia is actively targeting the Ukrainian language, the country’s cultural heritage objects and places. Many objects are also damaged simply because of their proximity to the areas of active conflict. To safeguard against this destruction of cultural heritage targeted digitisation efforts are needed.
This project is trying to ensure that content that is digitised is shared widely and has a direct impact on the current situation, helps to combat misinformation and provides a deeper understanding of Ukraine. A core part of the project will be to identify partners and stakeholders that in different ways could join, support or take advantage of the project.
