Outreach to and empowerment of girls and women through engagement in theatre

The goal of this project is to engage more girls and women in the school and activities of The Freedom Theatre. This is a community theatre committed to positive change in society through the education of actors and facilitators who work throughout the region. At present, far too few women participate, largely because it is seen as controversial to have women on stage. There are also too few positive female role models for the young population. Within the project we also aim to establish local theatre clubs for girls and women at village level.
