PECEC; Knowledge in Inter Baltic Partnership Exchange for Future Regional Circular Economy Cooperation

The PECEC project is about effective waste management between countries in the Baltic Sea region. The long-term goal is a better understanding of “enhanced zero waste” and circular economy concepts.

The “Beyond Zero Waste” concept, previously developed by another SI project, provide new ways to recycle waste. However, the implementation of the concept in the Baltic Sea region is far from complete. Hence, there is a need to reduce knowledge gaps and promote international collaboration.

The project wants to contribute to a unified and more equal waste management in the Baltic Sea region and neighboring countries. An exchange of knowledge between countries needs to be put in place. Educational material, inventory of data and concepts will bridge the gap between partners, academic institutions and stakeholders. The project will map the existing routes of recyclables and perform an inventory of secondary material to provide data on contaminant flows. The project will simplify recovery and transportation over the borders, and design educational material.
