The design of playgrounds and public environments for children is usually based on general assumptions about children’s activities, gender roles in society and a simplified physical environment. This project seeks to initiate discussions about gender-neutral public play environments with high play value in order to motivate designers and political stakeholders to put the topic on their agenda. The project aims to start discussions, produce design ideas and promote a gender-neutral play environment in Izmir, Turkey.
