The SCBD project wants to increase the cross-border cooperation around sustainable tourism in the Baltic Sea region and in countries of the Eastern Partnership. The project aims to boost the sector through development of sustainable destinations and increased knowledge about sustainable tourism.
Tourism is one of the fastest developing branches in the world. In that context, the project plans to gather Sweden, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland to develop the tourist exchange in a sustainable way. All actors have identified joint challenges such as insufficient respect for the environment and lack of awareness among visitors.
The project will seek to strengthen local networks and improve the development of sustainable destinations in the Baltic Sea region and in the countries of the EU Eastern Partnership. Another ambition is to increase the knowledge about sustainable tourism. Some of the planned activities are conferences and workshops. The participating partners will for instance elaborate on new ideas for local initiatives.
