In Somaliland, conservative religious norms mean that people living with HIV are often denied basic human rights: losing livelihoods, alienated from their community, avoiding healthcare and their children denied schooling. The project ‘Stories of Stigma’ is an innovative collaboration between a Swedish CSO (The Better Governance Project), a Somaliland CSO (Media Ink) and a Somaliland public institution (the Somaliland National AIDS/HIV Commission), with the goal to strengthen the ability of the Commission to use media to reduce discrimination in Somaliland in the coming years. It will achieve this through collaboration on a pilot anti-discrimination media campaign for TV and social media.
