Decades of ongoing conflict and a volatile and economic political situation has put
women´s rights and the democratic development in Palestine on the back foot. This
is especially evident in marginalized communities such as refugee camps where
conservative values are more prevailing and opportunities are scarcer.
Therefore, this project seeks to empower young Palestinian women to increase
their political participation and increase women’s influence in their community. We
will do this by working with locally elected women and young women in 3 refugee
camps in the west bank. The targeted young women and YWCA of Palestine will
produce guidelines political and support national advocacy for increasing women’s
representation and participation in Palestinian politics.
