The project aims to facilitate cooperation among teachers working with migrant students in Sweden, Poland, and Ukraine, promote mutual learning and enable them to benefit from each other’s experiences as “first responders”. Teachers have a crucial role in mitigating the effects of their students’ traumatic experiences, thus facilitating their integration into their new environments.
The region is dealing with the challenges of an influx of Ukrainian migrant students, while Ukrainian teachers struggle to support their dispersed students. Many of these students not only face dislocation but also carry traumatic experiences. On a positive note, those students who successfully integrate into schools in their new countries acquire valuable skills, enabling them to draw on personal inner resources to cope with their situation.
The project will have several outputs, including an inspirational handbook for teachers, suggested strategies for implementation in Sweden and Poland, and an outlined curriculum for in-service teacher training. These outputs will be disseminated within the EU.
