SusWearTex: Baltic Neighbourhood Cooperation in Sustainable Workwear Initiatives- Driving Recycled Fiber Excellence in Workwear Textile

The aim of SusWearTex is to build a network and cooperation platform that will drive utilization of recycled fibres in the production of workwear textiles through a holistic data-driven approach.

The fate of workwear after usage often goes unconsidered. About 99% discarded workwear typically finds its way to landfills, contributing to the creation of vast clothing mountains. To minimize the environmental impact of workwear industry, recycling of workwear as well as use of recycled fibres to produce new workwear is as an ideal solution towards a sustainable workwear sector.

Project activities include that young researchers and postgraduate students in textile engineering gain knowledge in use of recycled fibres in the production of workwear textiles and that a model and prototype of a workwear textile based on recycled fibres will be developed.
