Many studies have shown a large gender imbalance in most children’s books in the MENA region, where patriarchy is prevails. The project tries to address this issue by creating a new generation of writers and illustrators that are more gender-conscious. With seed funding and the expertise of Swedish writers and illustrators, the project in its first phase will strive to pave the way for a writing camp/workshop in 2019, at which Tunisian and Swedish writers and illustrators will meet to produce books. There will be a conference and two workshops in Tunisia to brainstorm ideas and raise issues and one person from Tunisia will visit Sweden.
